About this role

About the Department

The mission of the South Carolina Department of Education is to serve students, support teachers, empower parents, and engage the community so that every student graduates prepared to reach their full potential.

Job Purpose:

The South Carolina Department of Education is seeking a Delivery Coordinator to serve as the linchpin that keeps the District & Technology Services vertical moving and delivering. Reporting directly to the vertical's Program Manager and operating as a peer to the two team leads — District Shared Services and District Analytics & Reporting — this position runs point across both teams to drive work toward its deadlines.

The Delivery Coordinator owns cross-team delivery through coordination, communication, and trust rather than direct supervisory authority, and may serve as the primary technical delivery lead for key initiatives such as the annual state Report Card. The ideal candidate is an encouraging, upbeat professional who genuinely enjoys driving people toward shared goals and is equally comfortable tracking the details of the work and representing that work to senior agency leadership.

Responsibilities:
  • Cross-Team Delivery — Run points across both teams in the vertical to keep initiatives on track, driving progress toward deadlines and owning the coordination that turns plans into delivered results. Serve, when needed, as the primary technical delivery lead and owner for key projects such as the annual Report Card.
  • Progress, Risk & Blocker Tracking — Maintain a clear, current picture of what both teams are working on. Touch base frequently with the two team leads and the Program Manager to surface progress, risks, and blockers early, and help remove obstacles so work keeps moving.
  • Delivery Bookkeeping — Keep the vertical's delivery records accurate and up to date in the agency's project management tool (Asana / AlignED), sprint sheets, and cross-functional ("X-Team") timelines, so that everyone has a trustworthy, shared view of status and next steps.
  • Meeting Representation — Represent the vertical and its leaders in recurring cross-functional ("X-Team pod") meetings, attending in their place to run point, capture commitments, and follow up — relieving the leadership team of meeting load while keeping delivery moving.
  • Executive Communication — Confidently represent the team's work directly to senior agency leadership and executives, communicating status, risks, and outcomes clearly and credibly.
  • Team Encouragement & Coordination — Bring a positive, encouraging presence that helps colleagues across both teams stay aligned, motivated, and focused on shared deadlines. Work with sensitive data while maintaining confidentiality and following security guidelines. Perform other duties as assigned.
This position is located in the Office of Information Technology.

Position Duties

A high school diploma and experience in computer system development and modification. A bachelor's degree in a related area may substitute for the required work experience.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field and one to three (1–3) years of experience in project coordination, business analysis, or a related discipline. • Supporting delivery or operations in a technology, data, education, or government setting.
      • Internship or practicum experience in project management, business analysis, or program coordination is applicable.
  • Delivery Coordination Experience — Demonstrated ability to coordinate diverse tasks and resources among multiple teams, drive work plans to completion, and report clearly on progress — the ability to lead delivery through influence rather than positional authority.
  • Communication & Executive Presence — Confidence and presence in front of senior leadership, with excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Personality Fit — An encouraging, upbeat personality and a genuine enjoyment of driving people and projects toward deadlines.

  • K-12 / Education Data Familiarity — Familiarity with K-12 education data, the Ed-Fi data standard, PowerSchool, and/or state accountability reporting such as the Report Card (preferred, not required).
  • Data Skills — Working knowledge of SQL and/or a data warehouse such as Snowflake — a growing skill area for the vertical and a significant plus.
  • Adaptability — Rapid responsiveness to changing priorities, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to quickly learn and communicate about complex data systems and delivery work.
