This position conducts pre-background investigations by reviewing criminal histories run through LEIN to determine next-step hiring suitability. This position conducts complete background investigations on candidate applications applicable to the assigned caseload to ensure suitability for employment and ensuring each applicant meets MDOC hiring standards, guiding qualified applicants through the hiring process. This position partners with Correctional Facilities Administration, Field Operations and Budget and Operations Administration and is responsible for coordinating, scheduling and quality assurance for interviews/physical testing in the Upper Peninsula and serves as a liaison for policy compliance in that area. This position coordinates the Corrections Officer selection process and maintains data to understand patterns and trends in hiring Corrections Officers.

Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Four years of experience as an advanced 9-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.
OR
Three years of experience as an E9, E10, or E11-level worker in an ECP Group One classification.
OR
Two years of experience as an experienced level worker in an ECP Group One technician or paraprofessional classification.
OR
Two years of experience as a first-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
OR
One year of experience as a second-line supervisor in an ECP Group Three classification.
*Paraprofessional classifications are those requiring an associate's degree or two years of college.
Educational Substitution
College credits may be substituted on a proportional basis (one year of college education may substitute for one quarter of the required experience) for up to one half of the required experience.

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.

**Position has the possibility of being hybrid up to 50%. There is an expectation that minimum of the first 2 weeks will be worked in-office, to assist in learning the position. This is subject to change to be consistent with remote work expectations.

IMPORTANT: New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.
Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
