Role Overview

This role will be based in Denver, CO

The Design Engineering & Design Management Tools Intern will support Vantage Data Centers’ design teams by helping improve the digital tools, workflows, and data that enable the delivery of large-scale, mission-critical data center projects. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, design management, and technology, with a focus on making design reviews, document management, and coordination more efficient and consistent across projects. The intern will work closely with design managers, engineers, and project teams to understand real project workflows and help build or improve lightweight tools, automations, and reports that support design quality, coordination, and decision-making throughout the design lifecycle.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the internship, the intern will gain hands-on exposure to how owner-side design management functions on complex infrastructure projects and how digital tools support that work. The intern will learn how engineering and design data flows through systems such as document management platforms, design review workflows,and how to translate operational needs into practical technical solutions. The role provides experience working with real project data, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, and developing small-scale tools or automations that have direct impact on project delivery, standardization, and efficiency within a global data center platform.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, computer science, construction management, architecture, data analytics, or a related field
  • Interest in the intersection of engineering, design processes, and technology
  • Basic programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python, JavaScript, or similar)
  • Familiarity with spreadsheets, data organization, or basic data analysis concepts
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to learn new tools and workflows quickly
  • Clear communication skills and comfort working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Interest in large‑scale infrastructure, buildings, or data center design is a plus

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year university pursuing a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience:

  • Rising Junior or Senior status
  • Minimum GPA requirement – 3.0
  • Previous Internship experience preferred but not required

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Positive and proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient with all aspects of modern working practice and tools, including MS Office, MS Teams.
  • Travel required is expected to be up to 5% but may increase over time as the business evolves.
