About this role

Summary:
The Diagnostician, Speech-Language-Hearing (SLH), will screen, evaluate, and identify children with Speech-Language disorders.


DISTRICT EXPECTATIONS: All district employees must:

Responsibilities:
· Provides screening and assessment for young children who appear to have developmental, cognitive, behavioral, or physical needs.

· Manages, prepares, and participates in all phases of eligibility and Individual Educational Plan (IEP) development for identified children.

· Communicates with and provides direct and indirect support to school/district personnel and parents regarding program policies.

· Advises and consults with teachers, parents, and other concerned individuals.

· Interacts and consults with community agencies or other professionals.

· Assists Supervisor of Speech-Language-Hearing (SLH) Program in implementing speech-language services throughout the district.

· Assists or participates with other professional activities as assigned by the Supervisor of SLH Program or the Supervisor of Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System (FDLRS).

· Implements program policies and procedures.

· Participates in district committees as appropriate to the role of Diagnostician, SLH.

· Provides training and/or information to agencies, school personnel, and parent.

· Performs any other duties as assigned.

Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in Speech-Language Pathology, Early Childhood, and bilingual experience preferred.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Florida Professional Educator and/or Department of Health Professional License in Speech-Language Pathology and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).

Language Skills: Reads, analyzes, and interprets all kinds of documents. Responds to inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or community. Writes speeches and effectively presents to managers, the public, and school board.

Mathematical Skills: Works with math concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Applies concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.

Lifting Demands: Up to 10 pounds.

Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.

Environmental Conditions: Noise Intensity: 3, moderate.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires traveling to various school sites, work locations, and/or community organizations throughout the district.
