As a member of the USF Health Communications and Marketing team, this position will lead USF Health’s social media presence across major platforms. The officer develops and implements platform-specific content strategies that strengthen brand awareness, increase engagement and drive meaningful traffic aligned with USF Health’s priorities in education, research and patient care. Duties include creating content tailored to audience behaviors, monitoring social media conversations and emerging trends, analyzing data to optimize performance, managing paid and organic digital campaigns and collaborating with marketing partners to ensure digital efforts align with broader marketing goals. Ensures alignment with organizational priorities and USF Health’s brand and voice.
The position contributes to university-wide reputation-building by collaborating on cross-campus social media initiatives in partnership with the University Communications and Marketing team and the four health colleges, as well as other strategic partners.
The officer also supports USF Health’s digital marketing efforts through graphic design and email marketing, partnering with the web team to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment. Responsibilities include designing engaging graphics and marketing collateral for digital screens and other channels, as well as developing targeted email marketing campaigns that support health-wide initiatives, internal communications and event and conference promotions. This includes building workflows, managing subscriber lists and reviewing campaign data to guide ongoing improvements.
Reporting to the USF Health Associate Director of Marketing, and working closely with the design, communications and web teams, the ideal candidate brings creativity, technical skill and strong analytical abilities. Successful digital marketing officer communicates clearly, demonstrates strong design capabilities and exhibits an understanding of social media platforms, content trends and audience engagement best practices.
Responsibilities
Design and Manage Social Media Strategy
- Plans, develops and executes USF Health’s social media strategy by creating engaging, brand-aligned content, attending events to capture real-time storytelling opportunities and fostering meaningful online engagement with target audiences.
- Proficiency with platforms like Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social, or native social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) for content scheduling, monitoring and engagement.
- Skills in graphic design and multimedia editing tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, Premiere Pro) to develop engaging visual content.
Digital Marketing Strategy
- Plans, designs and executes, with the marketing team, targeted digital marketing campaigns to drive awareness, traffic and engagement while curating, managing and updating content and graphics for email and digital screens that can also be applied to web.
- Experience with email marketing platforms like Constant Contact or Dynamics to plan, execute and analyze targeted campaigns.
- Monitor Analytics and Data Tracking and have knowledge of tools like Google Analytics, social media insights and email campaign metrics to monitor performance, interpret data and optimize outreach strategies.
- Project Management Tools: Familiarity with tools like Monday.com or Microsoft Teams for coordinating tasks and campaigns.
Visual Content Creation and Design
- Event Photography/Video Skills: Ability to capture and edit multimedia content during events for real-time storytelling in social media.
- Performs additional marketing and communications tasks as needed to support the overall goals and initiatives of USF Health.
Performs other duties as assigned to support marketing communication priorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mass communications, Marketing, Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Advertising, Digital Media, or related field, with two years of experience in related positions.
- Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience
Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.

• Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
• Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and copy writing skills
- Experience managing social media accounts on behalf of an organization or brand
- Basic experience with graphic design and proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, any other common design programs: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, Premiere Pro)
- Experience with marketing automation
- Previous experience working in the public sector or a nonprofit
- Previous experience working in academic medicine setting
- Industry Knowledge:
Higher Education and Academic Administration: Understanding the structure, priorities and culture of colleges and universities, particularly in relation to academic medicine and internal communications.
Digital Marketing Best Practices in Education: Knowledge of effective strategies for engaging prospective students, current students, alumni, faculty, researchers, physicians and other stakeholders within an academic medicine environment.
University Branding and Communication Policies: Familiarity with branding guidelines, messaging standards and communication protocols specific to higher education institutions.

- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to craft clear, engaging and persuasive content across various platforms; strong verbal and written communication to interact with diverse audiences.
