Normal Work Schedule: Flexible; Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, 10 hours per week

Job Summary: The Digital Marketing/PR Student Assistant supports the Culverhouse Career Center staff. Oversees social media accounts. Provides website content. Develops, updates, revises, and designs marketing and promotional materials to include signage, social media graphics, and print materials. Videos and photographs events for website and social media content.

  • Work with office staff to develop a digital marketing strategy for establishing an internet presence through social media platforms. The goal is to increase awareness of our office’s services, programs, and events.
  • Research websites and social media platforms of other colleges and universities (specifically business school career centers) for new and improved ideas.
  • Develop digital marketing campaigns that may include increasing office visibility, promotions, and recurring events (promoting completing First Destination Survey, Signing Day, and career fairs). Review account usage (student engagement on platforms) to assess success and recommend improvements for increased followers and engagement.
  • Oversee social media accounts (Instagram, LinkedIn etc.) and manage all promotions for social media accounts for office programs, services, and events. Monitor and respond to comments and direct messages in a timely manner.
  • Work with Employer Development PR student assistant to collect content for promoting programs and events.
  • Develop, revise, and design marketing and promotional materials (through InDesign, Canva) to include signage, social media graphics, and print materials for the Culverhouse Career Center.
  • Regularly market and educate students about Career Center workshops, events and services through emails and social media (posts, stories, reels, etc.).
  • Coordinate with supervisor to seek approval from UA Strategic Communications for all printed and online materials.
  • Attend  Culverhouse Career Center programs and events for website and social media content (photography and videos). Video and interview students and employers for content.
  • Maintain knowledge of UA and Culverhouse brand guidelines.
  • Support the collection of the FDS (First Destination Survey) responses when needed.
  • Support Culverhouse Career Center staff and work with other student assistants and graduate assistants as needed. This may include assisting with tabling events, assistance at career fairs, working at the front desk, and helping with employer and student events. 

Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama undergraduate student. This is not a remote position. Student is required to work 10 hours (flexible) per week in the office. This position begins Fall 2026 semester.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must submit resume and link to portfolio to be considered for this position.

Skills and Knowledge: Experience managing professional social media accounts. Skilled in photography, videography, and graphic design. Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and follow through. Reliable and highly dependable. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to accurately proofread and edit content.

Preferred Qualifications: Current Culverhouse College of Business or College of Communication & Information Sciences (CCIS) student with experience in digital marketing, creative design, or advertising/PR. Proficient in programs such as Canva, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
