In addition to enterprise consulting, the Director enables the Leadership & Learning team through portfolio coordination, roadmap management, communications, and operating rhythms that drive alignment and execution across the function. The role also leads learning governance, establishing enterprise standards, facilitating governance forums, overseeing the AEMP18 learning vetting process, and continuously evolving the operating model that supports a connected, scalable learning ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Consulting:

  • Serve as the front door for learning consultation, partnering with Business Leaders, Business Unit Learning teams, Colleague Strategic Partners (CSPs), and CEG stakeholders to understand capability needs and identify the right learning solution.

  • Consult with stakeholders on learning requests, leveraging existing solutions where possible to reduce duplication and maximize enterprise learning investments while meeting business needs

  • Advise stakeholders on the AEMP18 learning vetting process, helping them navigate requirements and prepare submissions.

  • Lead enterprise learning intake leveraging automated intake tools and workflows to provide a consistent, efficient experience across the organization.

  • Build strong partnerships across Business Unit Learning teams to create a more connected learning ecosystem.

Leadership & Learning Team Enablement:

  • Manage the Leadership & Learning roadmap by partnering across Leadership & Learning to maintain visibility into priorities, milestones, and dependencies.

  • Coordinate team communications, leadership updates, and portfolio reporting.

  • Help evolve the Amex U strategy by identifying opportunities based on business priorities, stakeholder feedback, and learning insights.

  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve how the team operates.

Learning Governance & Stakeholder Alignment:

  • Own the AEMP18 learning governance process, partnering with Legal, GABM, CA&C, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and consistent execution.

  • Lead the end-to-end planning, coordination, and facilitation of Learning Forums, including the Executive Learning Steering Committee (quarterly), Learning Working Council (monthly), and International CSP meetings (quarterly)

  • Promote consistency, operating rhythms and alignment across the enterprise learning ecosystem.

  • Use stakeholder feedback, survey data, and business insights to inform product direction and help evolve the Amex U strategy.

  • Improve learning consulting, governance, and team operations based on business needs and feedback.

  • Monitor learning trends and emerging business needs to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Recommend new approaches that strengthen the learning experience and improve business outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Learning & Development, Talent Development, Organizational Development, Learning Strategy, or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrated success consulting with senior business leaders to diagnose organizational capability needs and influence learning solutions.

  • Experience leading enterprise learning governance, operating models, or largescale learning initiatives.

  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives within a highly matrixed organization.

  • Experience facilitating executive-level governance forums and building strong partnerships across diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Strong consulting and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
