What will you do?
A day in the life of a Director, Learning Portfolio & Curriculum Architecture at VF looks a little like this.
As a leader within the Global Learning and Leadership Development space, you will partner across enterprise and regional teams on the design and governance of the enterprise learning portfolio. You influence senior leaders’ learning priorities and establish the learning objectives of portfolio and program partners, regional learning leads, and HR stakeholders. Your role focuses on organizing, maintaining, and evolving the enterprise learning portfolio and curriculum architecture by synthesizing learning demand, shaping coherent pathways, and translating enterprise priorities into structured, decision‑ready roadmaps and insights that guide curriculum portfolio discussions. This role reports to the Senior Director, Global Learning and Leadership Development.
Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.
Executive Alignment & Capability Stewardship
- Partner directly with GLT members (as VF Academy Deans) and senior business leaders to define enterprise learning priorities, shape capability agendas, and align on investment tradeoffs.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to VPs and functional leaders, translating complex business challenges into the capabilities required to drive performance.
- Build credibility at the most senior levels through strong executive presence and the ability to bring clarity and direction to complex, evolving needs.
Enterprise Learning Strategy & Portfolio Management
- Drive the end-to-end enterprise learning ecosystem—defining priorities, shaping the portfolio, and ensuring investments align to VF’s most critical capability needs.
- Translate enterprise strategy into a focused, prioritized learning agenda that drives measurable impact across functions, levels, and regions.
- Lead portfolio-level decision making, balancing tradeoffs across speed, scale, depth, and impact using data, demand, and business outcomes.
Curriculum Architecture & Pathway Design
- Design cohesive, enterprise-wide learning pathways that are sequenced, purposeful, and aligned to how talent grows and moves across VF.
- Ensure learning experiences are intuitive, connected, and relevant across career stages, functions, and leadership levels.
Global Network Leadership & Delivery
- Lead through a broad, matrixed network of regional learning leaders, SMEs, and facilitators to deliver enterprise priorities at scale.
- Set clear direction, priorities, and accountability across a large indirect team, ensuring alignment, execution, and efficient use of resources.
- Orchestrate delivery across regions, balancing enterprise consistency with regional needs and constraints.
Executive Communication & Influence
- Develop clear, compelling portfolio narratives, roadmaps, and decision materials that enable senior leaders to quickly align on priorities and investments.
- Bring transparency to portfolio decisions by clearly articulating rationale, tradeoffs, and expected outcomes.
What do you need to succeed?
We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, especially a degree in Organizational Development, Adult Learning, Human Resources, Business, or a related field, we are most interested in your 12+ years of experience and professional achievements.
- Strong executive presence, with the ability to influence and challenge senior leaders (VP+ and GLT) with confidence and credibility.
- Exceptional at simplifying complexity, translating strategy and organizational dynamics into clear, actionable direction.
- Experience leading large, matrixed networks, delivering through indirect teams to drive impact at scale.
- Skilled in portfolio leadership, prioritizing, sequencing, and making tradeoffs across competing demands.
- Highly collaborative, able to align global and regional stakeholders without direct authority.
- Data-informed, with strong judgment on where to invest, evolve, or stop work based on impact and demand.
