Director of Project Controls, Internal & Client Systems

Position Summary

The Director of Project Controls, Internal & Client Systems is responsible for overseeing project governance, performance management, and system integration activities that support client commitments and contractual requirements. This leader drives operational excellence through effective use of Internal and client-facing systems, ensuring data integrity, process compliance, and alignment with client scorecards and established executive reporting. This role ensures accurate forecasting, risk management, and adherence to corporate governance standards while optimizing existing project controls processes, operational workflows, and system capabilities across national deployment programs. The Director serves as a mentor and people leader, developing team capabilities through coaching, training, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance performance, accountability, and organizational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Project Controls Leadership

  • Develop and own enterprise-wide project controls standards, including scheduling, cost management, risk/issue management, and governance.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of master schedules for national deployment program closeouts.
  • Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, Scoping, and Operations leadership to optimize, standardize, and document cross-functional processes, ensuring clear ownership, data integrity, audit readiness, and consistent execution across project controls, forecasting, and operational workflows.
  • Implement tools and systems to standardize program management, KPI visibility, and executive reporting across markets.

Internal & Client Systems Leadership

  • Serve as executive owner of Internal and other client-facing deployment systems, ensuring alignment with operational and customer requirements.
  • Establish governance, administration, and performance standards for Internal workflows, reporting, dashboards, and data management.
  • Lead system integration efforts between internal platforms and customer systems to enable efficient project execution and reporting.
  • Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across client and internal reporting environments.
  • Partner directly with customer teams to support reporting requirements, process improvements, system enhancements, and issue resolution.
  • Drive automation initiatives that improve data flow, reduce manual effort, and increase reporting accuracy.
  • Develop standardized reporting frameworks and dashboards that provide real-time visibility into project performance, risks, and milestones.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on deployment health, capacity, risks, systems performance, and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate across Engineering, Real Estate, Construction, Operations, IT, and client stakeholders to improve project delivery timelines and reporting effectiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through automation, workflow optimization, and technology adoption.
  • Represent the organization during audits, SOX reviews, client governance meetings, and executive briefings.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Establish system utilization standards and reporting requirements for vendors, contractors, and project teams.
  • Implement performance scorecards and accountability measures related to project delivery and data quality.
  • Build strong relationships with client leadership to ensure expectations, deliverables, and reporting commitments are consistently met.

Required Qualifications

  • 10–15+ years of experience in telecom network deployment, project controls, program management, systems administration, or operations management.
  • 5+ years leading large, geographically distributed teams.
  • Experience managing Internal and/or customer deployment management systems within the telecommunications industry.
  • Strong understanding of wireless deployment processes, project lifecycle management, and operational reporting.
  • Expertise in scheduling, budgeting, earned value management, forecasting, and executive reporting.
  • Proficiency with tools typically used in the telecommunications industry.

Compensation Details:

$165,000 - 185,000
