This leader will drive operational excellence, patient-centered care, and team engagement while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and quality standards. Position Summary The Director of Surgery is responsible for the overall leadership, operations, and performance of a surgical nursing department. This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality care while optimizing patient flow, staff engagement, and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic and operational leadership for a 24/7 surgical unit Ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining regulatory compliance (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHA) Drive patient flow, safety, and clinical outcomes through effective resource allocation Lead team member engagement, recruitment, retention, and performance management Develop and maintain an effective nursing care delivery model aligned with patient and family needs Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance service delivery and patient experience Manage department budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement cost-efficiency strategies Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement Lead quality initiatives, committees, and special projects that support organizational goals Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – required Master’s degree (MSN, DNP, or related field) – preferred Licensure & Certifications Active Florida RN license or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Additional certifications may be required (ACLS, PALS, etc.) Experience Minimum 3 years of RN experience in a surgical setting At least 1 year of leadership experience Why Choose Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital?
