Director, Senior Trading Strategist
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with trading, sales, finance, QSDG and risk teams to identify areas of optimization with regards to Balance Sheet, Capital, and Funding.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with trading, finance and capital teams to improve return metric reporting in order aid senior management decisions.
- Act as a senior advisor to trading desks, providing high-impact, data-driven recommendations to inform positioning, risk-taking, and capital allocation decisions.
- Improve and streamline valuation control processes (price verification, valuation adjustments), driving efficiencies between front-office and the finance department.
- Enhance visibility of fundings costs and below-the-line expenses for front-office.
- Generate and oversee the distribution of institutional-quality market commentary, trade ideas, and thematic research to internal teams and clients.
- Drive portfolio strategy and optimization, incorporating risk analytics, valuation frameworks, and scenario analysis.
- Maintain accountability for price verification, valuation integrity, and risk transparency, ensuring alignment with market conditions and internal standards.
- Build and manage senior client relationships, delivering tailored insights and strengthening the firm’s market presence and credibility.
- Mentor and develop junior strategists, fostering a culture of analytical rigor, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the evolution of strategic frameworks, analytical tools, and infrastructure to enhance scalability and efficiency.
- Participate in trading activities as required, exercising sound judgment within regulatory and risk parameters.
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive experience in trading strategy, macro research, portfolio management, or a related front-office function within a leading financial institution.
- Deep understanding of US GAAP accounting and capital rules.
- Deep understanding of internal Balance Sheet, Capital, and Funding systems including knowledge of internal allocation methodologies (GANE, Dynamo, G2).
- Deep understanding of global macroeconomic dynamics, market structure, and complex financial instruments.
- Proven track record of generating actionable trade ideas and influencing trading decisions at a senior level.
- Strong client-facing experience with the ability to engage and advise institutional investors and senior stakeholders.
- Advanced quantitative and analytical capabilities, with expertise in risk analytics, valuation, and data-driven decision-making.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex market views clearly and persuasively.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including mentoring talent and driving strategic initiatives.
