Position Title: Dispatcher
Division: Operations/Transportation
Reports To: Director, Transportation
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Salary Schedule: AS5
Work Days: 244

Essential Duties:
- Manage overall functions of communications on the base radio.
- Communicate professionally and effectively to all drivers and personnel over base radio.
- Manage substitute driver assignments.
- Take calls from drivers who call in and will be absent.
- Track and disseminate driver attendance data to Route Supervisors.
- Formulate plans for splitting routes and covering routes on a daily basis.
- Record all communication that occurs on base radio.
- Serve as a substitute bus driver when needed.
- Assist in answering and routing phone calls.
- Complete legible and accurate required reports in the prescribed manner and in a timely manner.
- Assist the Director and Executive Director of Transportation in responding to any transportation related concern from drivers, parents, and students.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or state-approved High School Equivalency (HSE), required.
- Commercial Driver’s License with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements required at the time of employment.
- Minimum of three years of experience in transportation operations; experience in public school transportation, preferred.
- Ability to pass annual physical required.
- Experience in preparing and maintaining route information.
- Demonstrated competence in office technology including the use of word processing and databases. Experience with Edulog Routing and GPS software, preferred.
- Team-oriented with a proven record of working well with others.
- Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
- Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
- Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
- Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
- Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
- Must perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
