Job Summary
 

This position will retrieve, inspect, and prepare products to customer supplied specifications. This role will act as a link between DC management and the yard. They will be a direct report to the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor. 
 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Operate industrial forklift to transport inventory, unload incoming stock and load order
  • Enforce company policies and safety regulations, reporting any issues identified immediately to management, or address them directly if needed
  • Enter safety related information into company compliance software as directed
  • Fill in for supervisor when needed
  • Ensure that employees receive appropriate training i.e., compliance, safety or technical training as needed
  • Maintain accurate attendance information and authorize work schedules according to the guidelines for payroll purposes
  • Can be asked to lead shift meetings and communicate information to employees as directed by their manager
  • Communicate with other departments to share information as directed
  • Examine and inspect work progress and equipment to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met
  • Maintain open lines of communication between team members and management 
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities
  • Pull and stage orders for shipment
  • Fill and transact work orders, purchase orders, and sales orders
  • Unload items to be stocked in warehouses and/or storage yards
  • Perform cycle counts
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, report any damage to supervisors
  • Follow standard operating procedure
  • Fill independent demands for material requisitions
  • Keep area safe, clean and organized
  • Package and stock product
  • Ability to contribute to building a positive team spirit
  • Interface with customer service, technical service, and delivery personnel
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed

 

Job Requirements
 

  • High school diploma / equivalent
  • Prior experience in a shipping/receiving function preferred
  • Prior experience with forklift operation preferred
  • Ability to communicate verbally and/or in writing
  • Ability to read and understand bills of lading and customer order sheets
  • Ability to use a forklift
  • Basic math skills for addition and subtraction
  • This job involves the following physical demands: walking, standing, climbing, bending, stretching, using hands and fingers to hold, grasp, push, and lift items
  • Lifting requirements are generally 40 lbs or up to 80 lbs 
  • Environmental conditions involve generally indoor and outdoor work, frequently in warm and cold temperatures
  • Job responsibilities involve frequent exposure to moving equipment
