About the Department
Manages the district’s recruitment and selection process by ensuring position descriptions of vacant positions are current and approved by Classification & Compensation prior to posting. Creates and closes job requisitions and evaluates candidate applications to create the qualified applicants list for use by the hiring managers to select candidates for interviews. Assists hiring managers with the candidate selection process and participates on interview panels as necessary. Identifies and coordinates district recruiting events. Provides assistance to customers inquiring about SCDOT employment opportunities.
Assists with processing, and occasionally initiating, the district's HR actions through the e-forms system to include, but not limited to, new hires, internal pay actions, terminations, leaves of absence, benefits, and position descriptions.
Assists with the onboarding process of the district's new hires and works with managers and county administration to ensure employment paperwork is properly completed prior to being submitted to Headquarters Classification & Compensation.
Assists with coordination of district-wide professional development offerings as directed by Headquarters Training and Development Office.
Assists with the coordination of the district's administration of benefits programs for health insurance, retirement plans, and leave. Assists with scheduling of open enrollment sessions and wellness screenings.
Maintains the district level employee files and any other necessary records and ensures documents are organized and accessible. Acts in the absence of the District Human Resources Manager. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Duties
A bachelor's degree and one (1) year of relevant experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required..
The physical demands for the essential functions includes sitting or standing at a desk for an extended periods and working on a computer. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. May be required to work outside normal business hours. Requires day travel throughout the district.
