DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports the daily operations of a Driver License Center by providing excellent customer service, verifying various documents, and processing a wide-range of applications. Through your work, you will help to ensure safe licensing practices and accurate recordkeeping for the public. As a Driver License Examiner Assistant, you will perform the following duties:
- Customer Assistance: Greet customers, provide forms, answer questions, and guide applicants through required steps
- Document Verification: Examine identity documents and confirm authenticity to prevent fraud and identity theft
- Testing Support: Administer standardized knowledge tests and conduct vision screenings for applicants
- Application Processing: Enter test results and application information into the online licensing systems
- Service Guidance: Explain licensing requirements, REAL ID rules, product options, and related policies to customers
- Center Operations: Maintain an organized workspace and support center needs including travel or overtime when required

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime and travel to other driver license centers may be required as necessary.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- This position requires the selected candidate to undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.
This position is subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
You must be eligible for selection in accordance with merit system employment regulations.

- Transfer (Only current civil service employees who hold the same job title will qualify for transfer to another agency.)
- Meritorious service is defined as (a) the absence of any discipline above the level of written reprimand during the 12 months preceding the closing date of the posting, and
- (b) the last regular or probationary performance evaluation showing an overall rating of satisfactory or higher.
- Reinstatement (Former civil service employees may only be reinstated to the job title from which they resigned. Current civil service employees are not eligible through reinstatement.)
