Job Duties:
- The Greenville County Deputy Director provides direct supervision and managerial oversight to Child Welfare Program Coordinators to ensure accountable service delivery, compliance with agency policy and the GPS Practice Model, and achievement of child welfare performance and permanency outcomes. The County Deputy Director is responsible for monitoring performance measures, evaluating practice quality, addressing barriers to timely permanency, and implementing corrective and improvement strategies. In partnership with the County Director, the County Deputy Director supports strategic planning, staff development, and system-level improvements to strengthen service effectiveness and organizational performance.
- Assists the County Director in leading staff and administering human services programs by promoting adherence to agency policy and procedure, the agency mission, and the GPS Practice Model. Provides on-call support to Child Welfare staff as assigned.
- Engages staff and partners professionally with empathy, respect, and leadership, including Child Welfare, adult services, economic services, families, and community professionals.
- Collaborates with community stakeholders to identify and coordinates services that meet the needs of children and families.
- Communicates program expectations and practice standards to families, stakeholders, and the community; explains agency mission, procedures, and service approach as needed.
- Promotes fidelity to policy and practice by facilitating regular meetings with direct reports, reviewing performance/data reports, monitoring policy and procedure updates, ensuring staff completion of required training, and conducting periodic case reviews to support quality practice.
- Supports staff meeting structures and performance improvement by assisting with planning and facilitating staff meetings (including all-staff meetings, leadership meetings, and weekly huddles) focused on performance measures and data trends. Assists with developing and implementing improvement plans, including coaching and coordinating training.
- Supports timely permanency outcomes by assisting Program Coordinators and County Attorney staff in identifying and addressing legal and procedural barriers impacting permanency and related proceedings.
- Responds promptly and professionally to constituent inquiries from the public and families; works to resolve concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Provides support to Program Coordinators in EPMS planning and evaluation; offers coaching to strengthen performance and leadership capacity. Assists the County Director in addressing performance concerns and participates in hiring and onboarding/training of new employees as assigned.
- Maintains required professional credentials and training (minimum 20 hours annually). Promotes self-care and seeks support as needed to reduce secondary trauma exposure. Applies trauma-informed principles when working with staff and families.
- Performs emergency shelter duties (e.g., Red Cross shelter operations) as directed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Duties
A Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of experience in any combination of social work, management, business administration, administrative services or public administration.
A Master's degree and two (2) years of experience in any combination of social work, management, business administration, administrative services or public administration
