About this role

About the Department

The Dual Enrollment Counselor provides a broad range of support services across the college's service areas of Cherokee and Union counties for students enrolled in early college/dual enrollment courses and programs, including enrollment assistance, academic and career advising, coaching, mentoring, and follow-up. The counselor designs and offers information and orientation sessions for prospects, parents, and secondary school representatives.

Provides enrollment assistance and career/academic advising for early college/dual enrollment prospects and students; assists early college/dual enrollment students with identifying and accessing on-campus support services.

Assists with developing and implementing program outreach strategies for identifying, evaluating, and orienting new dual enrollment students; participates in events to promote the program; communicates with prospective students, school counselors, and other officials; assists with assessing and tracking student outcomes and participation in the program; supports recruiting efforts to matriculate at SCC beyond high school graduation. Assists admissions with providing applicant services during peak/seasonal times.

Works collaboratively with key SCC departments to expand/improve procedures that manage early college/dual enrollment programs and ensure students, parents, and school officials are informed. Participates in applicable professional development opportunities and shares information and strategies learned with the SCC community.

Maintains records and generates reports in an efficient, effective manner; maintains an active file on each dual enrollment student; prepares and submits reports and summaries documenting student and program outcomes in a timely manner.

Position Duties

Bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs. 

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in related field with 3 years experience in student services programs.

Other Qualifications

May need to occasionally attend meetings/conferences/workshops out of town. Evening and weekend hours to address special events will occasionally be required.
