About this role

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK
Under the general direction of the Director of Student Activities, the Facilities Manager is responsible for coordinating the utilization
of the indoor and outdoor facilities by various school, county and public groups, assisting with building and field maintenance, and
budgeting and record keeping of supplies and equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK (May not include all duties performed – These are intended as an illustration of the various

logical assignment to the position.) 
• Assists principal with the general administration of the school and community requests to use the building.
• Develops and maintains short and long-range building use schedules.
• Supervises school facilities and equipment including theater sound and lighting systems.
• Prepares and disseminates written communications and reports regarding building utilization.
• Maintains close communication with the community and reports directly to the DSA regarding after hours building use and interests.
• Develops, frequently in cooperation with county agencies, all rules and regulations (within established board policy) for the
operation and utilization of the facility.
• Attends work sessions, meetings, and discussions with representatives of school, recreation, and community organizations.
• Develops and maintains a procedure for efficient scheduling of the facilities.
• Administers a facility rental program.
• Coordinates all programs and functions associated with the school and community use including athletics, cultural affairs,
recreation, and/or other use of the facility.
• Maintains effective relations and communication between the school and community as related to use of the school. 
• Works with students, parents, teachers and community agencies to coordinate all building use during and after school hours.
• Daily communication with the W-L community of the schedule-of-the-day including school hotline, athletic scheduling program,
custodians, and teachers.
• Manage and/or assists with coordination of building maintenance work and service program for the total facility, including
requisitioning.
• Administers a system of charging for custodial services and building use.
• Administers and/or assists with an inspection system to determine building improvement, repair and maintenance.
• Assist with establishing a system of supervision and security maintenance of the entire facility for outside building users.
• Maintains and/or assists with a budget program including a budget cycle for building use, personnel, equipment, supplies and
service equipment.
• Orders and/or assists with ordering equipment and supplies.
• Maintains and/or assists with a procedure for acquisition, storage, distribution and inventory of equipment and/or supplies for
school and recreation programs.
• Administers and or assists with a system of furniture and capital inventory, repair, replacement and maintenance.
• Oversees and/or assists with administering the energy management operations.
• Assists with efforts to develop positive attitudes, habits and self-concepts within the school and community.
• Supervise some evening and weekend activities in conjunction with building use and/or assisting the Student Activities Office.
• Coordinates building tours. 
• Performs other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Experience working with students, families, and staff from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Knowledge of the school sound/lighting systems or the ability to acquire skills to operate school systems for building use.
• Some knowledge of or ability to quickly learn the instructional programs, school requirements, and community resources related to
the school.
• Some knowledge of or ability to quickly learn facility management software.
• Ability to establish and maintain rapport with students, parents, school personnel, and resource persons in the community and to
relate and interact with staff, students, parents, and the public, using good judgment, tact, and courtesy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• High school diploma with at least three years of satisfactory experience in related work.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher.
• Familiarity with public education and including the ability to schedule building use for a school facility
