Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support a maintenance program with Northrop Grumman in Lake Charles, LA. The Navy E-6 is an airborne command post and communications relay based on the Boeing 707 platform The aircraft are utilized primarily for long-range patrols along the entire U.S. border, and in source and transit zone countries. This platform, now modified to the E-6B standard, conveys instructions from the National Command Authority to fleet ballistic missile submarines, a mission known as TACAMO ("Take Charge And Move Out").
* These positions will support the weekday and weekend shifts.
**This position requires you to be willing/able to change shifts, as required to support the program needs.
Your duties include:
Develop work instructions utilizing engineering data, electronic data, blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings and technical orders
Provide estimates for developed work instructions
Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for components and assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling utilizing logical sequencing and manufacturing best practices to achieve cost targets
Coordinates with production on day-to-day activities. Conducts root cause/corrective action investigations using multiple tools; 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, 5D, etc. to resolve routine manufacturing process issues and assists in the resolution of complex manufacturing process issues.
Coordinates with Design Engineering on design and manufacturability issues
Research and evaluate commercially available tools and equipment to support manufacturing activities. Designs special tooling as required
Troubleshoots existing processes to improve safety, quality, cost and efficiency
Developing and improving manufacturing processes and defining the sequence of operations for work instructions
Incorporates engineering changes and/or work instructions
Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality
Assist Facilities Engineers in the planning and design of facilities.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering and 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience drafting tooling requirements for manufacturing teams.
Ability to work with minimal direction in a dynamic, face-paced environment (ability to be flexible in an environment where change is ever-present)
High energy, results oriented (commitment to follow up), self-motivated / self-directed, proactive, team player
Strong problem solving and analysis skills with the ability to learn from mistakes
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with and drive deliverables from individuals at all levels within the organization
Able to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance, if required by the program
Preferred Qualifications:
E-6B, E-3, E-8, KC-135 experience
A&P License
Experience starting new programs
Current Secret/Top Secret Clearance
