THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE.
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Early Interventionist provides direct developmental therapy services in a home or community-based environment and/or virtually to children up to five years of age through a contract with the Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS).
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care under the guidelines of TEIS.
- Implements services with children and families using knowledge of strategies of Family Guided Routines-Based Intervention (FGRBI).
- Completes routinely scheduled assessments using the Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System (AEPS).
- Manages program data using Tennessee’s Early Intervention Data System (TEIDS) related to grant requirements.
- Manages patient charts, including session documentation, correspondence, records requests, letters to other professionals and maintains files in compliance with licensure regulations.
- Establishes and maintains collaboration with other professionals providing services for PLC clients, including attendance at Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meetings, Transition meetings, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
- Attends agency professional meetings; participates in activities to remain current with evidence-based practice needed for programming and to maintain grant requirements.
- Travels to home and community sites to provide services as indicated on the children’s IFSP.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology, Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies (child development), Early Intervention, Deaf Education or Visual Disabilities, Special Education K-12, Elementary Education, Communication Disorders or related field.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of documented experience working with children with disabilities 0-5 years of age and their families; OR Master’s Degree in lieu of experience. Must have a valid Driver’s License. Child Safety Registry searches required by TEIS.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability and skill to provide assessment/treatment services to children with developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of basic communication principles and parameters.
- Skill in implementing clinical practices of developmental therapy and/or speech-language pathology.
- Ability to display an attitude of sensitivity to the needs of clients.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may require occasional overnight travel.
