Qualifications
Required
- Master's degree.
- Five (5) years of experience teaching in a related specialty, some of which may have been in a supervisory or administrative role.
- Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
- Postgraduate educational license with endorsement(s) designated as appropriate to the assignment.
- Knowledge of curriculum, instructional goals, procedures, and practices in field of specialization.
- Knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theory, and effective professional learning practices.
- Knowledge of current research, trends, and innovations in professional learning and program development.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local policies, regulations, and compliance requirements related to education and professional learning.
- Skill in project management
- Skill in analyzing data and feedback to assess program effectiveness and inform decision-making
- Skill in facilitating and supporting adult learners using a variety of instructional strategies and delivery methods.
- Ability to manage curriculum development, in-service training, and related activities and provide a high level of instructional leadership for teachers and administrators.
- Ability to adapt professional learning approaches to meet diverse participant needs and organizational goals.
- Ability to establish and maintain a successful cooperative working relationship with appropriate school communities, and school-based and central office staff..
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Preferred
- Progressively more responsible teaching and teacher leadership roles (team lead, department chair, school-based program lead, instructional coach, etc.)
- Endorsement in administration and supervision PreK-12.

Major Duties/Essential Functions
- Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates professional learning programs and curricula aligned with instructional standards, adult learning theory, and organizational priorities.
- Designs and facilitates professional development and in-service training for assigned programs, incorporating research-based practices and participant needs.
- Develops and modifies professional learning materials and experiences to support program outcomes and continuous improvement.
- Serves as a resource for central office, school-based, and support staff, providing consultation, professional development, resources, and strategies.
- Leads or supports team, project, or program initiatives, including coordination and implementation of activities.
- Provides programmatic support to regions, schools, departments, and their senior management teams.
- Collaborates with, advises, and/or serves as program liaison with FCPS departments, offices, and external partners such as universities, advisories and networks, or consultancy groups as required or requested.
- Participates in the selection and placement process of adjunct instructors and facilitators of professional learning programs and events.
- Reviews and interprets current research with respect to program goals and outcomes; applies learning theory to design course content, learning activities, and other training solutions.
- Monitors programs to ensure compliance with federal and state legislation and Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) directives.
- Provides expertise, consultation and support with respect to the design, development, facilitation and/or orchestration of professional development for staff, schools, departments, and programs.
- Represents the office of professional learning and may serve as subject-matter expert and collaborator in cross-departmental professional learning projects, events, or activities.
- Participates in ad hoc projects; contributes to budget development related to area of specialty.
- May participate in or lead the selection and purchase of professional learning resources, materials, services, or software and learning tools; may be responsible for distribution, implementation and trainings in use.
- Orchestrates the logistics and administration of divisionwide professional learning programs and events.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
