About this role

The Facilities Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and operations of all campus facilities which include buildings, grounds, and utility systems.  The Electrician Foreman supervises employees, lays out work and assists employees in job functions, and trains them as necessary. He also provides support for the Superintendent and fills in for them during absences. Assists other electrical foreman when needed.  This position provides good customer service to internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Installation and inspection of electrical, fire alarm, access control and other work in progress by visually observing completed work as well as work in progress. 

  • Assigns work to others, interacts with design personnel to provide technical expertise for projects.

  • Approves and submits employee time records, mentors and instructs employees and participates in personnel matters as necessary. 

  • Plans work, estimates costs, reads blueprints and performs takeoff of materials. 

  • Assists and instructs other craftsmen in the performance of their duties.

  • Investigates technical problems, troubleshoots and devises solutions to resolve such problems.

  • Supervises the installation of electrical, fire alarm and control system components. 

  • Participates in the design, testing and certification of such systems to ensure proper functionality and operational integrity. 

  • Studies blueprints, ordering of materials by use of a computerized ordering system, inspects deliveries to ensure proper materials are received in good condition and delivers material to job site.

  • Ensures proper tools and equipment are available to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Attends and holds meetings to discuss projects, employee behavior, work practices, conditions and progress. 

  • Supervises and mentors employees and assists other team members in the performance of their duties. 

  • Assists other foremen in their duties and other lead personnel when their foremen are out.

  • Other work as needed as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • Education:       
    • Vocational or technical training required

       

  • Required Experience: 

    • A minimum of eight years of experience in industrial, commercial or utility electrical work.

      • Five years of senior leadership or supervisory experience.

      • Excellent communication skills, technical skills and intuition.

       

  • Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 

    • Must possess a good working knowledge of electrical construction and renovation practices, have the ability to solve technical electrical problems and instruct others in the installation and repair of electrical systems and components.

    • Must have the ability to supervise and motivate employees, interact with others in a professional and responsible manner. 

    • Must have the ability to read blueprints, interpret design objectives and to acquire and supervise the resources needed to complete projects efficiently and on schedule. 

  • Other Conditions: 
    • Valid Driver’s license
    • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment-based visa status.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Education: Associates Degree
  • Experience: 
    • Ten years of experience in industrial or utility electrical systems, construction and operations with supervisory experience leading electricians and electrical technicians in the performance of their duties. 
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 
    • Ten years experience as an Electrical Foreman or Senior Journeyman Electrician with the ability to lead and supervise others in the performance of their duties. 
    • Excellent technical skills and construction and operational knowledge. 
    • Have positive attitude with a can do spirit.
