Position Overview

The Electrician Helper will assist licensed electricians with installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment. This role supports daily operations by performing basic tasks, preparing materials, maintaining tools, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Assist electricians with installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical components at company locations including plants, scale houses, and mechanic shops.
• Follow directions from the supervising electrician or supervisor regarding daily tasks and project expectations.
• Maintain a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers.
• Perform general labor duties such as material handling, cleanup, and basic tool operation.
• Help maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and working condition.
• Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Vocational school or introductory coursework in electrical systems preferred but not required.
• Prior experience working in construction, maintenance, or assisting electricians is a plus.
• No license required; willingness to work toward an apprentice license is preferred.
• Valid state driver’s license and satisfactory driving record required.

Work Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and criminal background check.
• Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors as needed.
• Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
• Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
• Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas as required by OSHA and/or MSHA. PPE may include safety glasses, hard-toe shoes, gloves, and other protective gear.
• Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• Basic understanding of hand tools and power tools used in electrical work.
• Ability to follow instructions and learn from experienced electricians.
• Attention to detail and care to prevent injury and maintain safe work practices.

Ability to perform physical labor including lifting, bending, and working in various environments.
