DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides professional Human Resources and administrative support with Employee Relations activities including Grievances, Employee Concerns, EEOC Complaints, Disciplinary/Corrective Actions, Medical Separations, and Texas Public Information Act requests and records management. Consults with other HR teams in identifying, anticipating and addressing departmental HR needs. The Employee Relations Specialist duties include but are not limited to:
- Maintains and promotes positive relationships among inter-office as well as inter-departmental employees.
- Provides administrative support and coordinate scheduling of grievance meetings, employee concern meetings, interactive meetings, Louder mill meetings and others.
- Participates in reviewing and analyzing various Employee Relations activities such as disciplines, suspensions, absences and grievances.
- Assists with the preparation, editing, and revision of correspondence, documents, and reports as required.
- Processes Grievances, Employee Concerns and ensures compliance of related rules, procedures and timelines.
- May attend Louder mill hearings, Medical Separations meetings, Civil Service Commission hearings and Unemployment Hearings.
- Interprets policy and procedure to ensure appropriate administration.
- Participates in research and analyses to assist in developing reports and projects for client and internal departmental use.
- Maintains Employee Relations records.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.
Position Duties
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Science, Liberals Arts or a related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
One year of professional experience related to human resources is required.
SUBSTITUTION: Pertinent experience at the professional level may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis.

Minimum Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following:
- Reviewing and processing Employee Discipline recommendations
- Coordinating Grievance Hearings
- Coordinating Medical Separations / Interactive Meetings
- Participating in Unemployment Hearings
- Facilitating Policy Training
- Valid Drivers License

- INTERMEDIATE: Basic formatting and create a variety of templates, mail merges in Word; create primary key to associate data between multiple tables, create a select query in Access; create, modify, and format charts, use graphic objects to enhance worksheets & charts in Excel; add special affects to presentation (design and animation) in PowerPoint; reply, forward, print and delete an e-mail message in Outlook.
- ADVANCED: Manage table data, sort and filter merges in Word, create a split form and report and back up your databases in Access; use the filter and formula functions to manipulate data in Excel; transition presentation slides, link Excel charts to presentation and add voice in PowerPoint; delete e-mails from the Inbox, Sent Items and Deleted Items folders, Add, edit, move and delete appointments on your calendar
- EXPERT: Produce table of contents, footnotes, endnotes, bookmarks in Word, manage Macro commands, and manage database objects in Access, use advance formula functions (VLOOKUP, IF, IS) manage macro commands, group rows in Excel; publish presentation online, embed objects into presentation in PowerPoint; managing multiple calendars, set rules for incoming mail, create subfolders for mail to be placed in Outlook.
