Duties:

This position will be a mechanical Engineering heavy role that provides support to the Transuranic Waste Processing Center. This facility is responsible for processing various waste streams to ensure compliant shipment of waste for offsite, long-term disposal. The Engineer will provide oversight and support that ensures their system is keeping the workers safe while also supporting the operational requirements of the facility. 


A successful candidate will be required to:

  • Perform engineering activities within the scope of their engineering discipline and provide written documentation supporting design decisions. 
  • Effectively interface with various departments including Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Project Management, and Operations. 
  • Provide technical field leadership support to troubleshoot and solve equipment malfunctions. 
  • Perform modifications/evaluations of existing or new systems, perform routine inspections for adherence to applicable codes, engineering design change processes, and configuration control. 


The ideal candidate will have experience with systems engineering (preferably ventilation systems), Safety Basis experience (TSR, DSA, SER), and working knowledge of system health analysis.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES (FOR ALL GRADE LEVELS):

  • Prepares engineering products such as: calculations, specifications, scopes of work, analyses, designs and design changes, and engineering reports within the discipline.
  • May be assigned as Project Engineer, Discipline Engineer, System Engineer, or Cognizant System Engineer.
  • Follows procedures in the development of engineering products.
  • May develop engineering products and provide expertise in the engineering discipline commensurate with grade level.
  • May provide technical support in the areas of operations, maintenance, inspections and tests, and configuration management for assigned systems and components.
  • Maintains timely and accurate oral and written technical reports regarding assigned engineering activities.
  • Keeps proper engineering files and records.
  • Applies industry codes and standards in development of engineering products commensurate with grade level.
  • Understands and uses computer software and applications associated with engineering assignments.
  • Complies with company’s safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies.
  • Develops an understanding of the role of each functional area within the company.
  • Conforms to company core values.
  • Acts with integrity in all elements of responsibility.
  • Expresses ideas clearly and listens effectively to the ideas of others.


Job-Related Qualifications Required:

Education: BS in an appropriate engineering discipline from a four-year accredited college or university

Experience: 2+ years of experience required. Minimum 1 year experience in the Nuclear Industry.


 (EIT) certificate or PE preferred.
