The Opportunity:
The Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, PRISM (Promoting Research Initiatives in Substance Use and Mental Health) team is seeking an Entry IT Data Management position to support grant funded research projects, specifically working with Professor Oladunni Oluwoye.
The IT Data Management Entry within the PRISM group supports the facilitation of secure data collection for grant-funded projects through REDCap database survey design, implementation, and support. In this role, you will collaborate with identified Principal Investigator (PI) and research staff, to design and create study databases and project management software based on the PI’s research needs. You will train investigators and research staff on database and survey design as well as consult with end-users and external collaborators to provide design recommendations and enhancements to resolve problems. You will work with research coordinators to compile study data collection requirements for study survey design. You will develop, maintain, and troubleshoot computerized data collection systems, including building and maintaining databases. Additionally, you will manage system security and determine which users can access databases and data therein. You will administer security policies and procedures to ensure departmental database integrity as well as ensure project solutions on the departmental database platforms meet the required compliance parameters such as HIPAA.
You are expected to work on site on the Spokane campus. An opportunity to work in a remote capacity may be considered upon supervisor approval.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to information technology or data management. Any combination of relevant education and experience totaling 4 years will satisfy this requirement.
- Experience administering and supporting research documentation systems (REDCap, etc).
- Experience assessing and utilizing software to meet organizational needs.
- Experience consulting with stakeholders and creating technical solutions to meet identified needs.
- Experience in supporting research data collection, with diverse project needs and requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting community-based research projects.
- Knowledge of Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements, procedures, implementation and oversight processes.
- 5 or more years of experience in database administration.
- Experience in a dispersed, higher education environment.
- Knowledge of Washington State University (WSU) systems, policies and procedures.
