Entry-Level HR Generalist - Torrington

O&G Industries, Inc., an innovative and diversified construction company based out of Torrington, CT seeks an Entry-Level HR Generalist to join our team at our Torrington Repair Facility. We are a highly respected leader in our field and ranked as one of the top construction firms in the Northeast.
The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting day-to-day HR operations while delivering a consistent, responsive, and high-quality employee experience. This role provides broad-based support across recruiting, onboarding, benefits, employee relations, and HR systems, while also taking on increased ownership of processes and problem-solving.
The Human Resources Generalist serves as a trusted resource to employees and managers, ensuring HR processes are executed effectively, and that issues are addressed with sound judgment and appropriate escalation.
Responsibilities:
Employee Support & HR Operations
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee and manager inquiries, providing timely, accurate, and solutions-oriented support
- Handle routine employee relations matters (questions, basic issue resolution) and escalate more complex situations appropriately
- Support consistent application of HR policies and practices
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Coordinate recruiting activities, including interview scheduling, candidate communication, and offer support
- Own onboarding logistics and execution to ensure a strong, consistent new hire experience
- Collaborate with the HR Business Partner to ensure a smooth hiring and onboarding process
Benefits & HR Administration
- Support benefits administration, employee questions, and enrollment processes
- Assist with leave administration and tracking
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of employee data within HRIS (JDE)/ASANA
HR Systems, Data & Compliance
- Maintain employee records with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
- Conduct regular audits of HR data and files to ensure compliance and completeness
- Prepare standard reports and support HR metrics tracking
Employee Experience
- Support execution of employee engagement initiatives, training programs, and HR-led activities
- Assist with internal communications and HR program coordination
- Contribute to creating a consistent and positive employee experience across the organization
Qualifications:
- Bachelor�s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
- 1-3 years of HR experience (not just administrative if possible)
- Experience supporting multiple HR functions (recruiting, ER, benefits, HRIS)
- SHRM member and working toward certification preferred
Required Skills
- Strong judgment in handling employee questions and routine issues
- Ability to balance administrative execution with problem-solving
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Effective communication skills with ability to interact across all levels of the organization
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational environment
- Demonstrated discretion with confidential information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems (JDE or similar)
