Title: Environmental Specialist
Location: Charleston, TN
Salary: $85,500 - $129,000 plus additional bonus
Schedule: 9/80 or 5-8's Schedule Available
The Environmental Specialist shares, with the Environmental & Quality Manager and the Environmental Supervisor, the responsibility for implementation, maintenance and improvement of the environmental management systems in order to ensure regulatory compliance and add value to meet site objectives and maintain the license to operate.
Environmental Technician Essential Job Functions:
- Implement global EH&S management systems (work processes, standards, and procedures) that focus on environmental aspects; manage the systems to perform environmental calculations & ensure full compliance.
- Manage air, water and waste regulatory and permit requirements. This includes permit applications for plant projects that consists of new and modified equipment, requests for permit changes, and permit renewal applications to ensure continuous license to operate.
- Identify and drive improvement project opportunities (ex. waste or emission reduction, water permit extensions, pond project and/or new landfill applications).
- Coordinate, implement and optimize EH&S programs across the site.
- Implement and maintain self-auditing programs and drive any action item closure plans to ensure 100% compliance with all internal and external requirements.
- Lead and participate in incident investigations and corrective action process.
Support daily and turnaround EH&S activities through planning, reviewing and engagement with field work.
Environmental Specialist Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree*; Engineering or Science discipline preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in an environmental related role
- Prior chemical experience highly preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, compliance, and RC14001 standard.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity; ability to influence, gain trust and buy-in; ability to respond during crisis and high-pressure situations and rapidly adjust to changing priorities as needed.
Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and possess a valid US driver's license
