PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Please Note* ROTATING SHIFT. Inspect and diagnose power units and construction devices. Perform extensive mechanical and electrical work in overhauling and rebuilding heavy mobile construction and automotive equipment. Perform related work as assigned.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Responsible for overall maintenance and repair of the company vehicles and work equipment.
  • Responsible for assisting management in the assignment of daily work requirements.
  • Responsible for the security of the company assets assigned to the garage.
  • Responsible for the appropriate use of company resources.
  • Assists in observing and analyzing the individual skills, proficiency and performance of all garage personnel.
  • Responsible all subordinate maintenance staff under immediate supervision.
  • Accountable for the safe behavior of all employees under direct supervision.
  • Responsible garage adherence to all governmental regulations and compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
  • Responsible for the training and instructing others assigned to assist.

Promotion to the Equipment Mechanic classification will be based upon Demonstration of Proficiency, which will require: - Successful completion of the Company approved On-the-Job Training Book (

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This means if you are in OHT and choose to lateral out of OHT, your home barn will be backfilled on the lateral and your OHT location will be backfilled on the canvass.

  • Must have demonstrated a thorough knowledge of the operation, maintenance, diagnosis and repair of company vehicles, work equipment, and specialized tools.
  • Must be capable of performing heavy manual labor without restriction.
  • Must have the ability to succeed formal training and schooling sessions.
  • Must have demonstrated safe behavior.
  • Must have attendance rating that meets or exceeds departmental goals for the last three consecutive years (excluding absence resulting from work-related injuries and major illness).
  • Must have a valid CDL Class A driver's license with Hazmat, Tanker, Doubles and Passenger endorsements and retain thereafter.
  • Must be capable of effective oral, written and electronic communication.
  • Must be capable of working without direct supervision.
  • NOTE: Non-incumbent employees will be required to possess eight (8) Company approved 0.E.M. certifications to promote to the Equipment Mechanic Classification
