About Us and Our Program:

Since 1948, Easterseals New Jersey has worked to meet the continuously growing needs of people with disabilities and their families. Its services for individuals with mental health conditions provide daily living support and community-based programs that teach valuable life skills through instruction and real-world experiences.

What You’ll Do:

The Driver operates and maintains a bus or minivan used for transporting of persons with disabilities to their destination. Essential function is to operate and maintain a motor vehicle.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assist with loading and unloading of persons receiving services as required. May lift persons receiving services when working in a setting which provides direct services to persons who are non-ambulant, or who are semi-ambulant, and/or have severe physical disabilities.
• Complete required forms and documentation to include mileage and maintenance logs, vehicle checks, etc.
• Make minor adjustments and repairs to vehicle assigned; change and repair tire tubs, check and replenish gasoline, oil, and radiator and battery water, and keep the vehicle in clean and safe running condition and available for immediate use.
• Make periodic safety checks of the vehicle, to check the function of the brakes, condition of tires, exhaust system, drive train, suspension, lights, wipers, horn, exit doors, and other equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are:

• Education & Experience: 
• High school or the equivalent preferred
• Possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
• One year of experience as a licensed operator of motor vehicles.
• Possess thorough knowledge of the proper methods of operating the assigned vehicle.
• Effective verbal and written communication utilizing the English language.
• This role requires driving as an essential function. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be subject to post-offer verification of driving eligibility consistent with company insurance requirements.
