Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Site Reliability Engineering Summer Intern to support the Federal Site Reliability Engineering organization. In this role, the intern will assist with the design, development, and enhancement of automation and AI-enabled tools within AWS to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and supportability across federal cloud environments. This internship provides an opportunity for a Junior, Senior, or Post-Graduate Master’s student to apply technical knowledge in a professional enterprise setting while contributing to initiatives that strengthen cloud operations, automation capabilities, and engineering processes. The ideal candidate will have prior coding experience, familiarity with AWS, a strong interest in cloud engineering and automation, and the ability to work effectively across technical teams. U.S. Citizenship is required for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the design, development, and enhancement of automation tools and AI-enabled solutions within AWS environments.

  • Assist with initiatives focused on improving system reliability, operational efficiency, and cloud support processes.

  • Contribute to the development of scripts, utilities, and workflows that automate routine operational and engineering tasks.

  • Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering and related technical teams to gather requirements and translate operational needs into practical technical solutions.

  • Support monitoring, analysis, and troubleshooting efforts across cloud-based systems and services.

  • Assist with identifying opportunities to improve performance, scalability, reliability, and process efficiency within AWS environments.

  • Participate in testing, debugging, documentation, and validation of developed tools and automation solutions.

  • Follow established engineering standards, security requirements, version control practices, and team processes throughout the internship.

  • Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and knowledge-sharing activities in support of ongoing initiatives.

  • Prepare and deliver a presentation at the conclusion of the internship summarizing project contributions, outcomes, and key learnings.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.

  • Junior, Senior, or Post-Graduate Master’s student preferred.

  • Prior coursework, academic projects, or hands-on coding experience required.

  • Familiarity with AWS services and cloud environments required.

  • Demonstrated interest in site reliability engineering, cloud operations, automation, or AI-related technologies.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional team environment.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical work to a broader audience.

  • Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python is a plus.

  • Familiarity with cloud automation, infrastructure tooling, or monitoring technologies is a plus.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
