What you’ll do initially:
- Operate GPS Field equipment under a variety of conditions
- Digitization of infrastructure from record document
Expanded Role:
- Create and manage geodatabases
- Project management of small-and large-scale projects in GIS
- Create and edit ad hoc maps based on a customer's internal/external request
- Work with internal/external customers to create customized mapping applications
- Bring in new business with existing relationships throughout the Upstate
- Work with engineers for best practices in GIS to help simplify workflow
- The ability to meet deadlines, to work cooperatively with others and when necessary, work overtime and weekends on a minimal basis
What you will bring:
- Minimum acceptable is High School Graduate/GED with experience in computer graphics
- Organizational and time management skills a must
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be thorough, consistent, and highly accurate in their work
- Curiosity about the field and its applications
- Willingness to work in the field under a variety of conditions
- A valid drivers license and transportation
- Ability to sit at and operate graphics or data workstation for bulk of shift
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in Geography/Cartography and some school exposure to computerized mapping systems
- Ability to apply mapping and programming skills related to GIS, such as cartography, surveying, and alignment sheet generation
- Python scripting / model builder ArcGIS online ArcSDE and SQL Express / PostgreSQL Trimble Products / Javascript/HTML/CSS
- Have knowledge and understanding of water utilities for both wastewater and storm water
