About this role
This Summer 2026 internship offers a hands-on opportunity to support core accounting and financial analysis activities while working directly with the site CFO.
The intern will assist with monthly close processes (including journal entries, accounts payable and receivable support, and account reconciliations) and help create clear, insightful visualizations of financial performance. This role is ideal for a motivated student who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is eager to learn from senior finance leadership, and is comfortable collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
Job Details
- Support operations management team to conduct detailed monthly financial analysis of costs, key business indicators and other financial and operational metrics and provide recommendations to management
- Ad-hoc analysis and reporting to support operations
- Utilize problem solving, analytical and organizational skills to understand the business processes at Rocky Mountain Steel Mills (RMSM)
- Support Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis with Hyperion Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (EPBCS) setup, forecast/budget process management, maintenance, and reporting
- Analyze reasons for variances versus forecast, plan and budget with recommended actions to drive improvements in the business
- Prepare monthly operations/financial performance presentations
- Develop financial models depicting key financial and operational relationships
- Preparation of monthly journal entries under IFRS accounting standards and entry into the General Ledger system
- Assisting with the month end close process, including preparing reports and communication among stakeholders for month end costs
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations, including analyzing balances and ensuring accounting treatment is in accordance with IFRS guidance
- Cooperatively work with the accounting team and other teams within the organization
- Performs other duties as they might be assigned
Requirements
- Actively pursuing a degree in Finance or Accounting.
- Ability to work full‑time during the summer.
- Basic proficiency in Excel required; intermediate Excel skills preferred.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable team player with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Term
- May-August 2026, following commencement of Spring Semester
Compensation
- Undergraduate experience $22 - $24 per hour
