The Finance Intern will support and assist the Finance team with a variety of activities, including financial reporting, financial data analysis, budgeting and forecasting support, and exposure to core accounting processes.

This role is designed to provide hands-on learning through supervised, real-world finance work while gaining exposure to multiple functions and levels within the Finance team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Help develop reports and analyses to provide better understanding of how financial decisions impact financial performance.  Prepare data and supporting analyses that contribute to management-level decision-making.
  • Provide support for annual budgeting and forecasting processes. Gain an understanding of department trends and growth to support the forecast model.
  • Assist with establishing reporting dashboards using financial and non-financial data.  Review data with guidance to identify opportunities, anomalies, trends, and other relevant items that may impact performance of the business unit.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations with review by a full-time team member.
  • Assist in preparing journal entries and general ledger postings.
  • Assist with data entry, financial record-keeping, and account reconciliations.
  •  Support the Finance and Accounting team on additional projects as needed, with appropriate guidance and review.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Actively working toward Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.
  • High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, as well as working knowledge in Microsoft Office
  • Highly motivated with a desire to learn and take on new challenges.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • General office environment
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Occasional meetings (in-person or virtual)
