About the Department
NATURE OF WORK: Under general supervision, performs professional accounting work of considerable difficulty; performs related duties as assigned.
Position Duties

TYPICAL DUTIES: (Illustrative Only) Coordinates the financial management of programs, grants, and contracts; compiles and analyzes financial information; prepares financial projections and coordinates financial benchmarking; prepares, administers, and monitors the department's annual budgets and capital improvement programs; prepares monthly internal financial reports and quarterly budget variance reports; prepares and/or approves budgetary transfers and journal entry requests; assists in developing, implementing, and monitoring internal control policies and procedures; acts as liaison to the Cochise County Finance Department relating to GASB 34 infrastructure reporting; may supervise and train staff as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education and three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in budget/accounting, two (2) years of which was in budgetary control and responsibility, OR, an equivalent experience, education and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities of this classification; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License and the ability to be covered by county insurance.
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to individuals with governmental experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is primarily performed under general supervision. Incumbent generally performs work in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Essential functions of this position require: Lifting up to 10 pounds, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting majority of time; walking and standing are required, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details and verbal instructions, requires emotional stability, empathy, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem-solving skills.
