Overview:

The Middlesex County Office of Superintendent of Schools provides fiscal oversight and operational support to school districts. The Financial Analyst supports the Executive County Business Official (ECBO) and office staff by performing financial analysis, preparing reports, managing records, and assisting with office operations. This role serves as a key point of contact with school districts and state agencies, ensuring smooth communication, accurate reporting, and efficient work-flow.


Responsibilities:

  • Financial Support: Provide direct financial and analytical support to the Executive County Business Official (ECBO) in all aspects of county-level school business operations.
  • Financial Data Analysis: Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of financial and budgetary information related to county and district business functions.
  • Records Management: Maintain and update confidential financial files, records, Business Administrator Contracts and databases in compliance with state and county policies.
  • Office Communication: Assist the Executive County Business Official (ECBO) with all communications between the County Office of Education and school districts. Support the office by responding to inquiries, routing information as needed, and providing assistance with any other operational or administrative needs to ensure smooth office functions.
  • Report Preparation: Compile and prepare financial reports related to district budgets, contracts, audits, certifications, and compliance requirements.
  • Submission Monitoring: Track and monitor the submission of required financial reports from school districts; communicate deadlines and procedural updates to school business administrators.
  • Office Operations Support: Assist the office with general operational needs, including maintaining office systems, ordering supplies, managing purchase requests, supporting workflow processes, and helping with special projects or tasks as requested by the Executive County Business Official (ECBO) and Executive County Superintendent (ECS).

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power-Point) and database management
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for managing multiple tasks and maintaining accurate records.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with school districts, county staff, and state agencies
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in administrative support, financial analysis, accounting, or related office/administrative roles required.
  • Experience in a school district, government agency, or public-sector financial office preferred.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is:

  • $50,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
