This position is only open to current, internal Department of Commerce employees.

The Division of Financial Institutions ensures Ohioans’ money is safe by regulating financial institutions and service providers. This includes examining, supervising and regulating Ohio chartered banks and credit unions, and licensing and regulating non-depository mortgage brokers, mortgage loan originators, and other consumer lenders. The Division’s Office of Consumer Affairs provides assistance to consumers to help resolve complaints against these institutions and works to provide education to Ohioans regarding financial literacy and other consumer protection topics.

What You'll Do:

  • Acts as team leader (examiner-in-charge) on trust examinations.

  • Responds to controversial questions on examination policies & procedures and makes written recommendations for appropriate responses.

  • Coordinates complex analysis of the assigned institution’s financial and/or operating condition.

  • Writes final reports for submission to internal and external stakeholders.

     

 

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Requires overnight travel (i.e., both in-state & out-of-state).

Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance or comparable coursework for all positions except those involved in information technology examinations; 3 yrs. exp., within 5 years from date in audit or financial analysis related work experience for firm, government agency or financial institution & 12 mos. exp. as team leader & in writing & presenting final report findings/recommendations to senior financial institution management; valid driver's license. 

-Or 12 mos. exp. as Financial Institution Examiner 3, 66143 or other comparable regulatory experience (office of thrift supervision, national credit union administration, federal deposit insurance corporation, office of comptroller of currency or federal reserve system); valid driver's license. 

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
