About this role

Team Overview:

As an intern in the reader FPGA group, you will gain experience in solving real world problems in FPGA development, while collaborating with cross functional teams. You will go through the process of designing and implementing hardware updates to our FPGA production platform, as well as verifying the design through simulation and hardware tests.

What You Will Do:

  • Work with software, systems, and firmware engineers to make meaningful impacts on our current production platform
  • Develop and implement hardware modules in our current and future FPGA designs
  • Utilize Xilinx IP cores to replace existing in-house IP with common bus protocols
  • Update the FPGA simulation environment, using Cocotb, to verify hardware updates were implemented as intended
  • Build tests to run on hardware in our regression management suite for continued verification

What You Will Bring:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master's program in in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field
  • Course experience related to hardware engineering, FPGA/ASIC design and/or verification
  • Ability to build, implement, and verify hardware modules
  • Basic understanding of RF concepts and how they are used in RFID applications
  • Experience with the following programming languages: SystemVerilog/Verilog/VHDL, Python, C/C++
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to collaborate with a team to get tasks done in a timely manner
  • Clear communication skills and ability to document technical information for a variety of intended audiences

This Summer Internship Cohort begins on Monday, June 15 and ends September 4. The start date is firm; the end date is flexible to end early. All internship positions report at least on a hybrid basis to our Seattle office. There is opportunity for full time employment for those graduates or those entering their senior year.
