THE POSITION
Are you a dedicated, hard-working individual with a passion for fisheries management? Do not miss this chance to join the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) in a full-time, permanent Fisheries Biologist 3 position with Fisheries Management Area 7, headquartered in Huntsdale, Pennsylvania.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position is responsible for implementation and supervision of all fisheries management activities in Fisheries Management Area 7. Area 7 is defined as subbasins 6 B, C and 7 A-F and all of 11,12, and 13, the Juniata River Basin, Potomac River Basin, and much of the mid-Susquehanna River Basin. Performance of duties in this capacity form the basis for the protection, conservation, and enhancement of the Commonwealth’s angling opportunities and aquatic resources in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Seasonal Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: Part Time telework is permitted in this position. Details can be discussed in the interview.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: (NOTE: Based on the Entry Level Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities)
• One year of experience as a Fisheries Biologist 2, PFBC (commonwealth title);
or
• Two years of professional experience conducting fish studies, fish investigations, or fish research and a bachelor’s degree in a biological science that includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in fish biology, fisheries management, fish population dynamics, ichthyology, limnology, fish ecology, aquatic ecology, watershed ecology and management, wetland ecology and management, herpetology, freshwater entomology, fish culture, fish physiology, fish pathology, biometrics, or other courses closely related to fisheries science or aquatic ecology.

• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 college credits in fish biology, fisheries management, fish population dynamics, ichthyology, limnology, fish ecology, aquatic ecology, watershed ecology and management, wetland ecology and management, herpetology, freshwater entomology, fish culture, fish physiology, fish pathology, biometrics, or other courses closely related to fisheries science or aquatic ecology.
Legal Requirements:
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
