We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fixed Asset Accountant to join our Accounting team at our Corporate Center in Norfolk, Virginia. As a Fixed Asset Accountant, you will be responsible for the management and administration of Titan America's fixed assets, inclusive of our capital investment program. Reporting to the Director of Management Accounting, this position is a salary exempt role with opportunities for professional growth and development.

 

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities Include:

  • Evaluating business investment projects for compliance with company policies and IFRS guidelines.
  • Monitoring capital spending and ensuring proper accounting and classification of fixed assets.
  • Timely closing and classification of completed capital projects.
  • Maintaining various databases and reporting formats, collaborating with the Financial Planning and Analysis group on forecasting and reporting.
  • Providing support to non-accounting personnel in the business centers on various capital accounting issues.
  • Perform the month-end close of the fixed assets ledger for multiple legal entities, including both calculating depreciation using our current ERP system as well as preparing required journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Produce and review monthly reporting, such as fixed asset roll forwards, capital expenditure reports, disposals, and other financial reports to ensure accurate and prompt results.
  • Continuous improvement efforts to improve and streamline processes as well as ensuring policy and procedural consistency across the enterprise.
  • Conduct fixed asset audit and verification activities at company locations to evaluate and ensure consistency with the fixed asset ledger.
  • Participate in interim and year-end external audit processes, collaborating directly with our external audit firm.
  • Perform technical research on IFRS and contribute to the development of companywide financial policies, procedures, and internal controls for all product lines.

 

 

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent is required.
  • Two to five years of general or fixed asset accounting experience, with hands-on capital and fixed asset experience being a plus.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills, is required.
  • Experience in data analysis, knowledge of SAP and Hyperion, is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work under time constraints with a large and diverse group of internal customers.
  • Demonstrated experience in working within a team environment with a can-do attitude.
