Job Location: Beckley, WV
Essential Functions of the Job:
This position reports to the Fleet Manager and assists with fleet management, operations and maintenance in all Parkways division encompassing the following responsibilities:
Fleet planning .
Replacement evaluation and recommendations
Purchasing specifications
Equipment maintenance
Shop management
Equipment inventory tracking and control
Parts management
Equipment inventory logs
Equipment information in Fleet Management System
Fuel Management System
Core Force State Police body/car cameral systems
State Police equipment and system liaison
Typical duties include the following:
Shall assist the Director of Maintenance and maintenance managers with identifying fleet needs and determining the most cost-effective means to meet the needs.
Shall implement an effective equipment evaluation and replacement program to assure that Parkways equipment is replaced in a timely and economic manner.
Shall oversee development of technical purchasing specifications for all equipment units to assure that Parkways purchases the most cost-effective equipment units to meet its operational needs.
Shall implement and carry out an effective program to inventory fleet vehicles by locations, assignment and history.
Shall be responsible for supervising all mechanics assigned to the Equipment Section.
Shall develop and execute an effective preventative maintenance program for all Parkways equipment.
Shall ensure that all equipment shops are effectively organized, staffed, trained and managed to carry out their equipment maintenance responsibilities effectively
Shall perform spot quality control checks from time to time to ensure that repair work is performed to a high degree of quality and proficiency
Shall be responsible for identifying the training needs of all mechanics in equipment maintenance and repair
Shall prepare an annual plan and budget for the Equipment Section
Shall be responsible for shop expenditures and budget compliance
.Shall work cooperatively with all maintenance shops and sections to achieve effective communication and ensure that the Equipment Section supports the basic mission, goals and objectives of the Parkways Authority
Shall be responsible for the evaluation of all mechanics
Shall work with the Purchasing Director and Warehouse to assure adequate economic inventories of repair parts
Shall ensure that parts purchasing is accomplished in accordance with established Parkways’ policy and procedures and guidelines
Shall implement a highly rigorous safety program in all equipment shops.
Shall oversee the development of seasonal work schedules to achieve a fair and equitable distribution of mechanic workload and overtime
Other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications
Highschool Diploma or GED
Must have Class A CDL's.
Must be able to pass a background check.
Must have a formal or informal automotive and heavy equipment mechanic apprenticeship course.
Must have 10 years of experience, three (3) of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity in the mechanic automotive field.
Must have state inspection license.
