American Senior Communities is now hiring a Float Social Services Director

Region:  Southwest Indiana

The Float Social Services Director plays a key role in delivering medically related social services to help residents attain or maintain the highest possible level of physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. This position provides social services support across multiple communities, assisting teams during vacancies, leaves of absence, transitions, and periods of increased need while ensuring continuity of care and regulatory compliance.

Skills Needed:

  1. Clinical and Human Services Knowledge
    • Understanding of social work principles, psychosocial assessments, and interventions.
    • Familiarity with case management, discharge planning, resident rights, and crisis intervention.
    • Ability to quickly assess community needs and provide effective social services support.
  2. Adaptability and Flexibility
    • Ability to transition between communities and adjust to varying resident populations, team dynamics, and operational needs.
    • Comfortable managing changing priorities and learning new environments quickly.
  3. Interpersonal Communication
    • Empathetic engagement with residents and families.
    • Clear and effective communication with interdisciplinary teams.
    • Strong conflict resolution, mediation, and relationship-building skills.
  4. Supportive Presence
    • Creates a welcoming, comforting, and resident-centered environment.
    • Builds trust with residents, families, and team members across multiple locations.
  5. Collaboration
    • Works collaboratively with community leaders, healthcare professionals, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
    • Supports community teams by sharing best practices and ensuring consistency in service delivery.
  6. Teamwork
    • Demonstrates a commitment to supporting communities and working toward the shared goal of exceptional resident care.
    • Assists teams during periods of change, growth, and transition.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in social work or a Human Services-related field required.
  2. Strong passion for geriatric advocacy and commitment to excellence in senior care.
  3. Previous social services experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, assisted living, or healthcare settings preferred.
  4. Ability and willingness to travel between assigned communities as needed.
  5. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing environments.

Position Highlights:

  • Provides temporary leadership and social services support across multiple communities.
  • Assists with onboarding, training, regulatory readiness, and transition management.
  • Helps ensure continuity of resident care during staffing changes and community transitions.
