Food Service Supervisor (DVVH Employees Only)

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position helps oversee food service operations that support residents in a long-term care setting. The role involves supervising meal preparation, coordinating service activities, and ensuring safe, high-quality food delivery. As a Food Service Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

• Resident Information: Record and update resident diet details, preferences, and tray card information
• Production Oversight: Prepare and adjust daily production forms and verify proper use by staff
• Meal Preparation: Plan menus, prepare food for special events, and keep accurate related records
• Service Supervision: Monitor food portioning, tray accuracy, and safe food handling practices
• Staff Coordination: Assign daily duties, rotate staff through stations, and fill vacancies as needed
• Training Leadership: Provide training, orientation, and ongoing instruction to food service workers

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment (8 hours per day; 40 hours per week)
• Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, rotating weekends and holidays, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. 
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Organization or Location Restrictions:

• This posting is restricted to Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Delaware Valley Veterans' Home employees only. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two years as a Food Service Worker and/or production experience, and an Associate degree with major course work in food production and food service; or
• Three years of paid experience in food production and/or service and successful completion of a Certified Dietary Manager course; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which consists of experience in an institutional setting preparing specialized therapeutic diets, or course work in food production, food service or a related field.

Additional Requirement:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualification (not required):

• Previous food service worker experience
  

Legal Requirements: 

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
