DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position facilitates the daily meal service and sanitation needs for the food services at Wernersville State Hospital. As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Meal Preparation: Prepare foods, beverages, salads, desserts, and fruits according to portion guidelines
  • Meal Service: Serve hot and cold foods and pour beverages based on menu and portion requirements
  • Dishwashing Duties: Operate dishwashing equipment and clean dishes, utensils, and food service surfaces
  • Sanitation Tasks: Clean counters, floors, tables, equipment, and windows using approved methods
  • Food Supplement Support: Prepare and deliver juices, snacks, and nourishment items for consumers
  • Record Maintenance: Complete reports, temperature sheets, labels, and written documentation for food service tasks

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with two paid 15-minute breaks. You will be required to work every other weekend and holidays as assigned.
  • Overtime as operationally necessary
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $38,411.00 (before taxes).

  • This posting is restricted to Department of Human Services, Wernersville State Hospital employees only. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirement: 
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

This position is subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
