THE POSITION

Join the Department of Human Services at Torrance State Hospital as a Forensic Security Employee 2 to play an important part in patient safety and support. In this role, you will help lead daily routines and work closely with patients and staff. You will provide guidance, structure, and encouragement to those receiving treatment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Forensic Security Employee 2, you will be providing leadership, patient care, and safety support within the forensic unit while helping maintain a secure therapeutic environment. In this role, you will perform the following duties:

  • Patient Supervision: Monitor patients, support daily routines, and assist with personal care needs
  • Training Support: Provide on-the-job training and guidance to new and lower-level forensic security staff
  • Safety Oversight: Conduct rounds, check living areas, and follow security procedures to maintain a safe environment
  • Care Assistance: Perform basic nursing tasks such as taking vital signs and supporting patient treatment plans
  • Documentation Duties: Record observations, complete required forms, and report important changes to supervisors
  • Team Collaboration: Work with nurses, supervisors, and coworkers to support patient care and unit operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Free parking
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM (2nd shift). Your schedule will consist of working 10 days within a 14-day period and may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime and travel may be required
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in the custodial and general care of patients with mental health conditions through the criminal justice system; and completion of the tenth school grade; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements: 

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.


This position is subject to the provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.
