About this role
Purpose: This position helps make gospel teachings, resources, or services accessible to all in a simple and affordable way, supporting the mission of the Church.
The framing worker 1 position is an entry level individual contributor role which will assist framing worker 2 and framing journeyman in their operations and assignments. Incumbents will be trained in machine framing operations for hand-held machines or computerized matting cutters. The equipment operated is normally less complicated than the equipment that a framing worker 2 or journeyman operates; machinery may include mat cutting equipment, chop saws for cutting, nail guns, brad guns, glue guns and packaging equipment. Employees must be able to work with limited supervision and make decisions that will maximize productive output and quality control. Position is used to train employees in more skilled techniques and assignments.
Responsibilities
- 90% - Operates machinery and operations assigned to produce fine art framing and associated materials. Follows work tickets and assignments to ensure consistent high quality product which meet predetermined standards and schedules/deadlines. Techniques and material used to complete orders include but are not limited to: art lamination, mounting, trimming, custom frame fabrication, art installation, glass, back and hanger protection, V-nail assembly and glue guns, miter saws, mat cutting and packaging equipment.
- 10% - Maintain all records associated with assignments using production tracking software; performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have the ability to speak, read, and understand English.
- Must meet OSHA age requirement to operate some machinery.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and over-sized and awkward-sized objects on a regular basis; must be able to stand on feet for majority of assigned shift being able to freely squat, bend, push/pull, lift overhead, etc.
- Must be able to work around strong smells, dust, fine sawdust, particulates, etc.
- Must have knowledge and understanding of standard measurements.
- Ability to learn technical skills and knowledge required to operating tools and machinery which will produce high quality fine art prints and frames.
- Must have functional (intermediate-level) computer skills.
- Ability to work with and relate to employees, guest and customers of various skills, education, and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to work well with management and other employees in giving and receiving specific and technical instructions and assignments.
- Must be able to work additional days and extended shifts as needed due to production demands.
- Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision once properly trained.
- Must maintain a good attendance and on time record.
