Assistant Deli Associate is responsible for preparing, serving, and maintaining the deli counter while providing excellent customer service. This position requires attention to detail, food safety knowledge, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment  

Key Responsibilities:Role Overview

A full-time Deli Assistant is responsible
  • Food Preparation & Service: Prepare and serve deli products such as meats, cheeses, salads, sandwiches, soups, wraps, and spreads according to recipes and customer orders 

  • Customer Service: Greet customers promptly, answer questions about menu items, offer product suggestions, and assist with selections 

  • Order Processing: Take orders at the deli counter, slice, weigh, price, label, and package items accurately 

  • Department Maintenance: Keep deli displays stocked, attractive, and well-organized; restock supplies and maintain cleanliness 

  • Food Safety & Hygiene: Follow all food safety regulations, monitor hot and cold unit temperatures, and ensure proper sanitation of equipment and work areas 

  • Inventory & Stocking: Check in products, replenish displays, and manage inventory to meet daily needs 

  • Specials & Promotions: Maintain specials boards, promote menu items, and report customer feedback to management 

  • Team Collaboration: Work with other staff to ensure smooth deli operations and support team goals

Requirements & Skills

  • High school diploma or GED 

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Attention to detail and commitment to food safety

  • Basic math skills for weighing and pricing

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights

  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays 

  • Previous food service or retail experience is a plus, but on-the-job training is provided
