POSITION:   

 

Maintenance Mechanic B / Maintenance Support (Lift Shop 2nd Shift)

OBJECTIVE:

Perform maintenance tasks and work orders on all assigned facilities and equipment both inside and outside the facility.  Complete facilities and equipment repairs reflecting some variety and complexity based on expected proficiencies established through the Facilities Maintenance Structure and Program.  Mechanic B should possess minimal development and skills in a minimum of one of the following areas of electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, material handling and welding.

DIRECT REPORT:

Reports directly to the Facilities Manager

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Preform preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of all material handling equipment and sanitation equipment.
2. Properly document all maintenance actions taken.
3. Maintain cleanliness of lift shop and assigned work area.
4. Assist in all aspects of building maintenance when required.
5. Complete and maintenance related tasks as assigned by maintenance supervisor or member of management.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES USED IN PREFORMING THIS POSITION:

1. High school education or equivalent
2. Mechanical and electrical aptitude
3. Successful completion of assessment evaluation to demonstrate experience and proficiency in areas or tasks assigned
4. Ability to reach, stoop, bend, and lift up to and including 80 LBS.
5. Ability to communicate and complete required record keeping functions
6. Must be able to work needed schedule to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision
7. Ability to work in a -5 degree to 90 + degree Fahrenheit environment (temperature varies within each department) for long periods of time
8. Able to perform work in difficult body positions and environmental conditions from time to time
9. Work in a warehouse environment with varying conditions (i.e., cool temperatures, concrete floors, powered Industrial trucks)
10. Ability to read and understand written and numeric product identifiers
11. Able to work in a team environment
12. Able to gain knowledge and learn more complex tasks as experience is gained over time
13. Able to supply own tools to complete required work

PREFERRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

1. Prior experience in mechanical areas
2. Certified on a powered industrial equipment where applicable
3. Familiarity / experience in maintenance environment
4. The individual will need to show minimal experience, expertise, and proficiency in the following essential functions to be hired or hold a Mechanic B level position in one or more of the following areas based on assessment by manager:

• Safety
• Electrical
• Refrigeration
• Material Handling
• Mechanical
• Welding
• Fire Systems
• Domestic Water/Wastewater

1. Mechanics are required to supply their own tools
