About this role
Human Resources announces an opening for Educational Administrative Assistant. This is a full-time (196-days work
schedule), Grade G-7 position at Gunston Middle School.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs one or more sets of the following; may not include all duties performed; not all incumbents perform all essential
functions delineated: Performs full range of entry or full proficiency level administrative support and secretarial tasks as assigned
to support the instructional program; assisting school administration, teachers, and general school operations. Serve as receptionist;
greets all visitors, answers phones, distributes mail, etc. Composes routine correspondence; may prepare information and
presentation packets as needed. Organize and maintain files. Incumbent will be assigned specific responsibilities at the work
site to support the instructional program and general school operations (e.g., maintain complex student records; assist the
special education process; may serve as the Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Principal or Director of Counseling; support
specific instructional staff; may perform Attendance, Registration, and STARS Finance tasks). Must be able to dispense medications
to students when necessary. Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of business and school office procedures, practices, and equipment; business English and office terminology. Knowledge
of the operation, uses and capabilities of computer equipment and computer programs utilized at APS (e.g. Synergy, STAN, and
STARS); including good knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, etc. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED; including or supplemented by courses in business and office practices with a minimum of two years’
responsible clerical experience, preferably in an education-related setting. Excellent human relations skills; ability to maintain
effective working relationships with other employees at all levels, including students, parents, and the public in a courteous and
tactful manner. Excellence in business English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; must be able to communicate clearly and
concisely, both orally and in writing.
