About this role

Job Description Summary

GE Vernova Advanced Research is the central innovation engine for GE Vernova’s portfolio of energy businesses. Our teams bring together researchers and engineers from across disciplines to invent and mature technologies that support the global energy transition — enabling safer, more reliable, and more sustainable industrial systems.

Robotics is a critical capability across GE Vernova, supporting inspection, maintenance, and operation of complex energy infrastructure. This Fellow Internship focuses on computer vision and inspection technologies that enable robotic systems to understand, reason about, and safely interact with real-world environments.

Job Description

As a Robotics, Computer Vision and Perception Fellow Intern, you will work closely with senior researchers and engineers on advanced perception-related research and development efforts for robotic systems.

Fellowship assignments typically last 12–14 weeks and emphasize deeper technical engagement, research exploration, and independent contribution. Fellows are expected to help shape technical direction, evaluate novel approaches, and connect academic research with real-world robotic applications.

The program also includes technical seminars, professional development opportunities, and forums to present and discuss research outcomes.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced research and development in computer vision and perception for robotic systems
  • Explore sensing, perception, mapping, and scene understanding approaches for robots operating in complex environments
  • Design and execute experiments using simulation, datasets, and/or physical robotic platforms
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate perception capabilities into larger robotic systems
  • Analyze results, draw technical conclusions, and recommend next steps
  • Document and communicate research findings to technical stakeholders
